1. Timothy saw petrels and he saw a booby. It was important to look for birds because if they see birds it means they are close to a shore or an island. In the early morning, on the fourth day he saw an island which excited Phillip a little too much.Since Phillip was so excited he fell overboard into a group of sharks. I do believe Timothy had the right to be angry at Phillip because it was a very dumb thing to do and he must control himself. This is proven, “ Damn fool mahn! I tol’ you ‘bout d’shark!” (Taylor, p.53)

2. When they landed on the island Timothy pulled the raft on shore, next he toured the island, and finally he made a pile of leaves and wood for a fire to catch the attention of pilots. Timothy left Phillip and stew cat to explore the island. Phillip was infuriated when Timothy left because he is very vulnerable and he does not know what critters are on the island. Phillip made Timothy promise he would never leave him by himself. Timothy was afraid they had landed on a devil mouth a cay surrounded by a huge corral reef that protects from fisherman, this makes insanely difficult to be found. Timothy is worried yet he tries to make the best of the situation, “True, but we cannot fret ‘bout it, can we? We’ll make camp, an’ see what ‘appens.” (Taylor, p. 62)

Timothy saw a booby and a petrel.” I true watchin d birds cause dey tell us we veree close to d shore”. (Taylor p. 51) Clearly it is important for them to see birds because they tell how close to the shore they are. Timothy saw an island on the 4th day and that caused Philip to fall overboard in his excitement.” Then I heard Timothy’s frightened roar, “Sharks,” and he was thrashing about near me.” (Taylor p. 53) No because Philip did not know, Timothy could have stayed calm and told him in a firm voice to never do that instead of yelling at him. He had a risk of dying but still that does not mean to get angry.

Timothy made a fire pile once they landed to be prepared for them to be rescued. Timothy left them to walk around the whole island to explore.” I knew how helpless I was without Timothy.” (Taylor p.59)Philip was angry when Timothy left because he was helpless without Timothy and was in grave danger. Timothy promised to never leave Philip again. Timothy was afraid they had landed in the Devil’s Mouth because navigation in this area was dangerous due to the sharp coral banks. He felt grave and almost miserable when they landed on the mouth but then he quickly tried to be cheerful.

1) The two types of birds that Timothy saw were a petrel and a booby, “I see a petrel. While ago, a booby…” (Taylor, pg.51) It is important for them to look for birds because birds will tell them if they are near the shore or not. Timothy saw an island in the morning of the fourth day. But in his excitement, Phillip stumbled and fell overboard. I think Timothy had some right to feel anger because Phillip was just really excited and was wasn’t sure where he was doing since he is blind and just fell overboard by accident. But I also think Timothy was just really worried that Phillip might get hurt or worse die. Timothy’s anger is just the thought and worry of losing Phillip. I think even in the four days they have been together, Timothy has become really attached to Phillip and treats him and loves him like a son.
2) Once they arrived on the island, Timothy prepared a large pile of wood and brush so the next time an aircraft passes, they can light it and the plane will see them so they can be rescued, “He said confidently, ‘We be rescue, true. Before d’night, I build a great fire pile o’ brush an’ wood. So d’nex’ aircraft dat fly ovah, we set it off.’”(Taylor, pg.58) Timothy left Phillip and Stew cat alone because he went to explore the island so they could get a better picture of the island and also to look for a good place to make a shelter. At first, Phillip was okay with it but after Stew Cat wondered off, he became frightened because he was alone and realized how vulnerable he was. Timothy was afraid that they had landed in the small cays that were surrounded by large expanses of coral ref. He felt that that was a terrible thing because it would be harder to get saved.

1. Timothy saw a petrel and a booby. It was important for them to look for birds because if they saw birds, it meant they were close to land. In the early morning of the fourth day, Timothy saw an island that caused Phillip to get a little bit too excited. Because Phillip was so excited, he stood right up and fell overboard right into a group of sharks, “Then I heard Timothy’s frightened roar, ‘Sharks,’ and he was thrashing about near me.” (Taylor, p. 53) I think Timothy had a right to feel anger because he specifically told Phillip about the sharks the day before, “He said, ‘Careful, young bahss. D’sharks always hungry, always waitin’ for d’mahn to fall ovahboard.’ ” (Taylor, p. 49) and, “He yelled, ‘Damn fool mahn! I tol’ you ‘bout d’shark!’ ” (Taylor, p. 53)

2. Timothy prepared them to be rescued by looking for a place to set up their camp and he made a fire pile of brush and wood. Timothy left Phillip and Stew Cat alone because he wanted to explore the whole island. Phillip felt enraged when Timothy left him because Phillip was helpless and he didn’t know what creatures lived on the island. Phillip made Timothy promise that he would never leave him alone again, “I repeated, ‘Never leave me alone, Timothy.’ ‘All right, young bahss, I promise,’ he said.” (Taylor, p. 60) Timothy was afraid that they had landed in the Devil’s Mouth, which was dangerous because of sharp coral banks and made it extremely difficult for boats to get to shore. Timothy was worried and pretty doubtful that it wasn’t a cay with the coral banks, but he tried to be cheerful and keep Phillip’s hopes up, “ ‘True, but we cannot fret ’bout it, can we? We’ll make camp, an’ see what ‘appens.’ ” (Taylor, p. 62)

1. Tim saw a petrel and a booby. It is important for them to look mat birds becasue it tells you how close you are to shore. On the fourth day Tim saw an island and told Phillip and they were both very happy, but since Phillip was too happy he fell off the boat, also there were sharks were he landed. My quote is when Phillip fell off the boat Tim said "Damn fool Mahn! I tol' you bout d'sharks!" (Taylor, p.53)

2. Tim made a fire, so they could be prepared to be rescued. Then, Tim abandoned Phillip and stew cat so he could look around the island. Phillip was mad at Tim to leave him and stew cat alone because he dosen't really feel safe without Tim. But, then Phillip and Tim promised that Tim would never leave Phillip ever again. Tim was scared that they landed on the devil mouth cay and they might not be able to be rescued. "If were in the Devil's mouth, how can we be rescued?" (Taylor, p.62)

1. The two types of birds Timothy saw were a booby and a petrel. This was incredibly important for the partners to look for birds because that would signify that land was near. On the fourth day Timothy saw an island, and Phillip was so overjoyed that he fell overboard. Phillip was very upset because of the sharks. He had told Phillip about staying away from them, so he had a right to be angry. “‘Damn fool mahn! I tol’ you ‘bout d’shark!’” (Taylor, p. 53)

2. When Timothy and Phillip landed on the island, Timothy set up a fire so that he would be ready to light it when a plane passed. Timothy left to tour the island and look for a good place to set up camp. Phillip was a little bit nervous because he was alone and blind, especially when Stew Cat left as well. Phillip made Timothy promise that he would never leave him again because he the environment around them was so unusual to Phillip. “‘Never leave me again. Don’t you ever leave me again!’” (Taylor, p. 61) Timothy was afraid they had landed on a cay that nobody went to because of the dangerous coral surrounding part of it. Timothy was very worried. Phillip was too, and Phillip felt betrayed by Timothy because he had been trying to lie to him.

1.The birds that Timothy saw were a petrel and a booby. He wanted to look for birds because birds meant land was nearby, “I true watchin’ d’birds ‘cause dey tell us we veree close to d’shore.” (Taylor, p. 51) In the morning of the 4th day, Timothy saw a small island, and Phillip was so excited that he actually fell in the water. I don’t think Timothy should have been angry because Phillip was stressed before, like when he got blind, but now that they have land, Timothy thinks that should help them instead of making Phillip overexcited and worried.
2.When on the island, Timothy wanted to set up a camp because he didn’t know how long they would be there. “Cotch me breath, den I will tour d’islan’, an’ select a place for d’camp.” (Taylor, p. 58) Also, he lit a fire so aircraft could see the smoke. Timothy left Phillip so he could look around the island and find a place to set up camp. Phillip was very frightened about this because he couldn’t see, and he didn’t want to be alone without assistance. Phillip made Timothy promise never to go far away without him. Timothy is worried that this is an island nicknamed “The Devil’s Mouth,” which is U-shaped and surrounded by coral reefs. Timothy didn’t know for sure, however, that it in fact was this island, but for the time being, he wanted to celebrate their arrival on the cay with food and water.

2. He made a fire with brush from the trees. Timothy was going to look for a place to camp. To never leave him again. That they were in the cays and there is coral reef so the boats cant get to the island. “ ‘True, but we cannot fret ’bout it, can we? We’ll make camp, an’ see what ‘appens.’ ” (Taylor, p. 62)

1. The two types of birds Timothy saw were the booby and the petrel. It was important for them to scout for birds because it told them that they were close to shore. In the early morning of the fourth day, Timothy saw land. It was the cay. During all of the excitement, Phillip stumbled and fell in the water. I personally think that Timothy was not angry, but worried. He was just recovering from the shock of Phillip having such a close encounter with death. He does demonstrate agitation when bellowing,” Damn fool mahn! I tol’ you ‘bout d’shark!” (Taylor, p. 53) But follows up with a gentle,” You all right, young bahss?” (Taylor, p. 53) He does deserve to be angry because he had warned Phillip already about falling overboard. I used those quotes because they truly demonstrated how Timothy was feeling at the time.
2. To prepare for their rescue, Timothy builds an enormous bonfire to light for the pilot of a passing plane to see. Timothy left Phillip and Stew Cat alone because he wanted to explore the island and look for shelter. Phillip was frightened and angry at Timothy for leaving him. His unfamiliar surroundings and blindness made him helpless without Timothy. The fear caused Phillip to make Timothy promise never to leave him again. Timothy was afraid that they landed in an area not usually passed by boats and planes. The doubt drips from his voice when he says,” Young bahss, dere is, in dis part of d’sea, a few, lil’ cays like dis one, surround on bot’ sides by hombug banks. Dey are cut off from d’res’ o’ d’sea by dese banks…” (Taylor, p. 61) Both Timothy and Phillip feel the pang of fear when the belief creeps in that they might have to stay forever. The realization makes Phillip burst out,” Then no ships will pass even close to us. Not even schooners! We’re trapped here!” (Taylor, p. 61)

1) Timothy saw petrels and a booby. It is important to look for birds because birds need land to live, and land was just what they were looking for. Timothy saw an island early morning of the 2nd day. “I see an islan’, true.” Phillip fell overboard in all the excitement. I believe Timothy does deserve the right to be angry because he had to risk his life to save Phillip.
2) Phillip made a fire to prepare to be rescued. Timothy left Phillip and Stew Cat alone to search the island to set up camp and find recourses. Phillip was scared something would happen to Timothy and he would be left alone. Phillip made Timothy promise to never to leave him again. “ Don’t you ever leave

1. While floating about on their little raft Timothy spots a bird, called a Booby. The Booby is a good sign that land is near. By the fourth day Timothy and Phillips luck gets better when Timothy sights a small island. Although with all the excitement Phillip falls overboard into shark infested waters “I went under the water, yelling for him, then came up gasping. I heard a splash in the water and knew he was in the water to.”(Taylor pg.52). Timothy in rage began yelling at Phillip on how he should be more careful about where he’s going. I don’t think it was very nice of Timothy to do so after all Phillip couldn’t see where he was going” Angrily I said to him “I can’t see” He keep forgetting that”( Taylor pg.54).
2. Finally reaching a small cay Timothy decides to make shelter and a fire for Phillip and himself. “ He said” Cotch me breath, den I will tour d’island , an’ select a place for d’camp. . . .”( Taylor pg.58) Timothy then left Phillip and Stew Cat so he could explore the island, but Phillip got worried and scared so he called Timothy back. Phillip felt like Timothy was keeping secrets from him so asked Timothy to tell him the truth. Only to find out that Timothy thinks they have landed in the hombug banks. I hope that Timothy and Phillip both make it home safe and are able to see their friends and family once again.

1.) The two birds that Timothy saw was pertrels and a booby ,“I see a petrel. From all the excitement, Philip fell overboard and fell into the water. I do not think that Timothy should have gotten mad because it is really exciting to see alnd after being stranded in the ocean for days. Also, Philip is blind, and can not see where he is going.

2.) Timothy made a fire pile when they arrived at the island, “He said confidently, ‘We be rescue, true. Before d’night, I build a great fire pile o’ brush an’ wood. So d’nex’ aircraft dat fly ovah, we set it off.’”(Taylor, pg.58) Timothy left Philip and Stew Cat alone so he can get to know the island better and to find a good place to camp. Philip felt mad, confused, and scared when Timothy left him because he couldn't see. Philip made Timothy promise that he would never leave Philip alone.

Timothy saw petrels and a booby, it was important because birds mean there close to land. "I true watchin d birds cause dey tell us we veree close to d shore”. (Taylor p. 51) Eventually Timothy saw a cay. Phillip in the early morning got excited after hearing Timothy found land and fell overboard. Timothy had to save him risking both of their life. Timothy is obviously mad when he says, “ Damn fool mahn! I tol’ you ‘bout d’shark!” (Taylor, p.53)

Once they landed Timothy made a fire pile to hopefully be rescued. Timothy left Phillip alone to scout the island and Phillip was scared because he couldn't see, "I knew how helpless I was without Timothy.” (Taylor p.59) Phillip felt angry because he was left alone and made Timothy promise he wouldn't do that again. Timothy was afraid they landed on a devils mouth, a cay with huge coral reef surrounding it. On top of that he was also afraid that no one would come here because of the rough coral. Timothy felt guilty but he quickly tried to cheer up their spirits.

1. Timothy saw a petrel and a booby. Birds are important because they are a clue that you are close to shore. On the fourth day Timothy spotted an island, “I see an islan’, true.” (Taylor p.52) In all the excitement, Phillip fell over board. Timothy had the right to be upset because he had already told Phillip not to go near the sides of the raft.
2. Timothy made a pile of wood and other things to burn to get the attention of pilots, “We be rescue, true. Before d’night, I build a great fire pile o’ brush an’ wood. So d’nex’ aircraft dat fly ovah, we set it off.” (Taylor p.58) Timothy left Phillip and Stew Cat alone so he could explore the island. Phillip was upset with this because without Timothy anything could happen to him. Phillip promised Timothy that he would never venture out alone. Timothy is afraid they landed in Devils Mouth. He is worried but, tries to be optimistic.

1) While on the boat Timothy sees a petrel and a booby. "But now an' den, I see a petrel. while ago a booby…" (Taylor, p. 51) It is important for Timothy to look for birds to know if they are close to land. On the forth day in the early morning, Timothy saw an island. "In the early morning, I heard Timothy shout, 'I see an island', true." (Taylor, p. 52) When Phillip got too excited, he fell into the ocean. "In wild excitement, I stumbled up and fell overboard." (Taylor, p. 52) The ocean was full of sharks. "Then I heard Timothy's frightened roar, 'Sharks.' I do think that Timothy had a right to feel angry because he was just trying to protect Phillip and didn't want him to get hurt. "'Damn fool man! I tol' you 'bout d'shark!'" (Taylor, p. 53) Timothy had also forgotten that Phillip was blind. "'Yes, young bahss. Dat be true! In all dis harassment wid d'shark, I did forget." However, I believe that is Phillip could see he would have been more careful and not fallen out of the raft in the first place.

2)Timothy went fishing to prepare them to be rescued after they landed on the island. "Timothy shouted up from the water, 'Many feesh 'ere. Langosta, too, I b'knowing. We ors' dem.'" (Taylor, p. 58) Timothy left Phillip and Stew Cat alone because he was going to set up camp. "'Cotch me breath, den I will tour d'islan', an' select a place for d'camp…'" (Taylor, p. 58) Timothy set up camp because they would be on the island for a while and he wanted them to be comfortable. "'We mobbed 'ere two, tree days. So we be libin comfortable.'" (Taylor, p. 58) Phillip was scared when he discovered he was alone because he couldn't see. "Something brushed up against my arm, and I yelled out in terror." (Taylor, p. 60) Phillip made Timothy promise that he would never leave him again. "'Never leave me alone Timothy.' 'All right, young bahss, I promise.'" (Taylor, p. 60) Phillip was afraid they landed in Devil's Mouth. "'If we are in Devil's Mouth, how can we be rescued?'" (Taylor, p. 62)

Due to the fact that Phillip was blind when he got excited he fell into the water. Timothy should not have felt anger because timothy can not see.

2. When they hit shore Timothy went right to work by preparing a fire so they can be spotted by passing by aircrafts. Timothy left Stew Cat and Phillip alone because he knew they could not walk around and explore the island with him. Being so scared Phillip made Timothy promise to never leave him again.Timothy thought they had ended up in the devil's mouth," D'place I am thinking of is called Debil's Mout. 1)Timothy saw a petrel and a booby both sea birds. Seeing a bird was like a sign that said,”Land ho!” He wanted t watch for birds because birds meant land and land meant supplies, “I true watchin’ d’birds ‘cause dey tell us we veree close to d’shore.” (Taylor p.51) In the morning of the fourth day, Timothy saw a small island and Phillip got so excited that he stood up and stumbled off the raft. I don’t blame Timothy for being angry because that would teach Phillip a lesson and he was right to say,”Damn fool mahn! I tol’ you ‘bout the d’shark!” (Taylor p. 53)
2)On the island, Timothy set up a beacon fire that was used for the black smoke emitted from it so that high above the pilot would see it. Timothy left stew cat and Phillip so that he could tour the island and he didn’t bring them with him because they had just got to the island and did notknow if it was dangerous. Phillip felt scared and alone because he was blind but Stew Cat only cheered him up slightly. When Timothy got back Phillip made him promise,”Never leave me again. Don’t you ever leaveme again!”(Taylor p. 61) Timothy was afraid they had landed on a cay tucked in a large coral reef called Devil’s Mouth. He felt that they wouldn’t be rescued any time soon because no boat could pass through thecoral without getting damaged.

1. Timothy saw a petrel and a booby. It is important that they watch for birds because it shows that they are close to shore. The next day, timothy saw an island or a cay. Being woken up to the excitement, Phillip fell over board, “In the wild excitement, I stumbled up and fell overboard.” (Taylor, p. 52) Knowing about the sharks, Timothy jumped overboard and saved Phillip. I think that Timothy wasn’t exactly angry to begin with. I think he was scared and in shock and he expressed that through anger towards Phillip. But it really wasn’t Phillip’s fault because he can’t see and doesn’t really know the lay of the boat, yet.
2. When Timothy and Phillip landed on an island, Timothy made a big fire pile out of brush that would be lit when the next aircraft or boat comes near. Timothy left Stew Cat and Phillip alone to go explore the island and see what resources they had. After only a few minutes alone, Phillip started to become scared and started screaming for Timothy, “Realizing that I was alone on the beach I became frightened.” (Taylor, p. 59) When Timothy retuned to Phillip, Phillip made him promise that he shall never leave him again. Timothy was afraid they had landed on a cay inside the Devil’s Mouth, a place where sailors dare not venture in fear of running ground on the coral reefs. Timothy felt that no schooners or fisherman would rescue them and that their only chance was for an aircraft to fly over.

2. When they reached the island, Timothy set up a fire so he could light a torch when a plane flies by. Timothy left Stew Cat and Phillip all by themselves because he was going to explore the island to find a good spot for their camp. Phillip became scared since he was blind and made Timothy promise to never leave him alone again, “‘Never leave me again. 1. The two types of birds Timothy saw were a petrel and a booby. To him, it was important to spot birds because it meant that land was nearby. On the 4th morning, Timothy saw a small island which excited him and Phillip as well. During the commotion and excitement, Phillip accidently fell off the boat into the water. The unfortunate thing was that after he fell, sharks swam toward him! “Damn fool mahn! I tol’ you ‘bout d’shark!” (Taylor, p.53) Obviously, Timothy was angry. I believe that he didn’t have the right to be angry because Phillip didn’t know that there were sharks heading his way.

2. When they arrived at the island, Timothy explored it and created a fireplace so he and Phillip can keep warm. He left Stew Cat and Phillip alone in order to explore the island. Phillip was angry and frustrated when Timothy left because he felt like he was useless. Timothy was afraid that they landed on a Devil Mouth, a cay surrounded by dangerous coral reefs. Timothy might be worried, but he tries to make things better. “True, but we cannot fret ‘bout it, can we? We’ll make camp, an’ see what ‘appens.” (Taylor, p. 62)
