I. When the storm was over, Phillip dug Timothy a grave because he had died during the storm, and Phillip wanted to give him a proper burial. Timothy cried once Stew Cat came back, but not when Timothy died, because Timothy's death was so sudden it was like he was trying to process the whole thing. He was so surprised and stunned by the tragedy. Phillip said that he was so sad that there weren't even tears, "I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears. But after Stew Cat came back, he realized he was stranded on an island alone with only Stew Cat and was blind.
II. Ten days after the storm, Phillip decided to go spear Langosta. Phillip dived into the hole and to spear them, but only succeeded with a small one a while later, but that was not enough, so he went back in an attempt to spear more, but was only rewarded with a bite, horrible experience from an eel bite. Phillip decided that he would never get back in that hole again. " Whatever it was, I never got back in that hole again."

Philip held the exhausted and almost lifeless hand of Timothy because he thought and learned it could be like medicine. Also before that, he released Timothy from the ropes tied to the tree to protest them from the perilous hurricane. Philip cried because after all of his hardships for survival he finally lost his only partner and he felt bleak since there had not been any signs of a rescue piece of transportation.

Philip traversed to the small reef, that Timothy had showed him before he had died, to catch some or maybe one langosta. After he had spent some minutes diving into the somewhat hazardous hole he finally speared a langosta. Philip was chomped by a malevolent eel; the bite was quite drastic and the pain stinging. In conclusion he chose to not go back ever again to the miniature reef.

1.When the storm was over, Phillip untied Timothy from the tree. Also, after he died, Phillip made a grave and buried Timothy. Phillip did this to honor Timothy and do a proper burial for a good friend and companion. Phillip did not cry when Timothy died because he was so sad that he didn’t cry. “I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears.” (Taylor, p. 112) However, Phillip did cry when Stew Cat came back because he was sad to be alone (not counting the cat) and blind on a small deserted island.
2.Ten days after the storm, Phillip wanted to try fishing langosta (lobster) for himself in a special hole that Timothy showed him. He ended up catching one langosta before he got seriously bitten and scratched by what he thought was a moray eel. “Some time later, I made an informed guess that it had been a large moray eel.” (Taylor, p. 123) As a result, Phillip decided to stay away from that place as long as he remained on the cay.

1) When the storm was over, Phillip released himself from the bindings of the rope that attached him to the tree, and he did the same for Timothy. Then the boy sat by Timothy on the sand and held his hand. “I knew there was very little I could do for him except to sit by him in the light rain, holding his hand. In my world of darkness, I had learned that holding a hand could be like medicine.” (Taylor, p. 111) Phillip clearly feels for him friend, and he knows that he probably doesn’t have much longer to live. When Phillip confirms Timothy dead, he doesn’t cry because he is beyond tears. He is so emotional he has crossed the line, making him look not emotional. It might remind someone of heat, and how when something gets hot enough, it might almost begin to feel cold. When Stew Cat comes back, however, Phillip cries a lot. He realizes, “aside from him,” (him meaning Stew Cat), “I was blind and alone on a forgotten cay.” (Taylor, p. 112)

2) Ten days after the storm, Phillip decides to go into his fishing hole and search for langosta. After much diving, he finds a little guy, but he wants to find one more so he and Stew Cat can have a more filling meal. He finds a deep hole that he decides must have a big langosta. He comes up to take a big breath to get ready for the final dive, and then he plunges back down. When he puts his hand in the hole, something grabs it. “Whatever had my wrist had the strength of Timothy’s arms.” (Taylor, p. 123) Obviously this creature is strong, because to have the strength of Timothy’s arms, well, that’s pretty hard to do. Later Phillip concludes that the creature that bit him was a moray eel. As a result of what happens, Phillip concludes that he will not go back into that hole.

1.) When the storm was over, Philip unknotted the knots to get Timothy off the tree, which took him some time. Then he made sure Timothy was alive, and when to sleep with him. When Philip woke up, Timothy was not moving; he was dead. I think that Philip did not cry when Timothy died because first of all her was very tired. But mainly he did not cry because he was so sad that he did not cry, “ I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears” (Taylor, pg. 112) He cried when stew cat came back because he realized that he was stranded on an island with just a cat, and he was blind. He realized that things were terrible, and felt no hope.

2.) On the tenth day after the storm, Philip decided that he was sick of eating fish and sea grape everyday, and decided to try to catch langosta. After retrieving one langosta successfully, he decided to try again. He found a deeper hole, and went in it. When he did that, something very strong grabbed his hand and hurt him greatly. He guessed that it was a moray eel. Philip decided never to go down the hole again.

1. When the storm was over, Phillip buried Timothy because he loved him and he was his only companion on the island. "I buried Timothy, placing stones at the head of the grave to mark it." (Taylor, p. 114) I think Phillip cried when Stew Cat came back and not when Timothy died because sometimes you are beyond tears.
2. Ten days after the storm, Phillip went down to the bottom of the hole to look for some lobster. He did find a lobster, but then something which I think was a shark and Phillip thought was a moray eel grabbed Phillip's arm and Phillip took whatever it was up to the surface with him. As a result, Phillip decided to never go back into the hole again. "Whatever it was, I never got back into the hole again." (Taylor, p. 123)

1. After the storm, Phillip untied the ropes on the tree and did the same for Timothy. When he got down off the palm tree, he realized Timothy was dead, so Phillip made a gravestone and buried him. He probably cried when Stew Cat came back and not when Timothy died because he had nobody with him except an old cat, “I was blind and alone on a forgotten cay.” (Taylor p. 112)

2. Ten days after the storm, Phillip decided to go down to a big hole in the reef and go and get a big lobster or something to eat with Stew Cat. When he dove down, something bit him, causing pain up his arm, “Pain shooting up my entire arm…” (Taylor p. 130) Phillip said he was never going back to that hole again.

1) When the storm was over, Phillip realized that Timothy had passed away. “I said, “Timothy,” but he did not answer me. His hand was cold and stiff in mine.” (Taylor pg. 112) A while after he died, Philip built a large and pleasant grave for Timothy with palm fronds, chunks of sea grape, pieces of wood, dead fish, fan coral, and shells. “Thirty or forty feet from the last palm tree, I began to dig a grave for Timothy.” (Taylor pg. 113) Phillip made this grave for him because he wanted Timothy to rest in a proper, peaceful burial. Phillip cried when Stew Cat came and not when Timothy died because he realized that he was all blinded and all alone, but with a cat. “I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears. I went back to sleep, and this time when I awakened, I heard a meow. Then I cried for a long time, holding Stew Cat tight. Aside from him, I was blind and alone on a forgotten cay.” (Taylor, pg. 112)

2) Because Phillip was short on food and was tired of eating the same thing, he decided to take a risk. “I decided to do something Timothy had told me to never do. I was tired of eating fish and sea grape leaves, and I wanted to save the few green coconuts I’d managed to find on the ground. There were none left in the trees.” (Taylor pg. 120) On the 10th day, Phillip went fishing for langosta (lobster). “I wanted scallops or a langosta to roast over the fire. I didn’t dare go out off north beach for scallops because of the sharks. But I thought there might be a langosta clinging to a coral at the bottom of the fishing hole.” (Taylor pg. 120-121) Phillip dived into the fishing hole with a spear, to try to catch the fish. As he speared the langosta, he was bit by a malevolent eel. The bite was very painful. Luckily, he escaped the hole and was back on the cay. From there on, he promised to never go back down the hole again.

1) Timothy made a gravestone for Timothy. “I began to dig a grave for Timothy.” Timothy cried when Stew Cat came back because when he realized Timothy died he was “beyond tears” and when Stew Cat came back he realized how lonely he was.
2) Phillip decided to jump into “the fishing hole,” After catching one langosta he was bitten by and eel. “I made an informed guess that it had been a large moray eel.” Phillip decided never to enter the hole again.

1. When the storm was over, Phillip dug Timothy a grave. He did this because it was the least he could do after all Timothy had done for him. The least Timothy deserved was a proper burial. Phillip did not cry when Timothy died because the shock washed over his emotions, “I stayed there beside him for a long time, very tired, thinking that he should have taken me with him wherever he had gone. I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears.” (Taylor, p. 112) However, he cried when Stew Cat came back because Stew Cat was all that he had left on the cay to keep him company, “I went back to sleep, and this time when I awakened, I heard a meow. Then I cried for a long time, holding Stew Cat tight. Aside from him, I was blind and alone on a forgotten cay.” (Taylor p. 112)
2. Ten days after the storm, Phillip resolved to catch langosta to eat. He would catch them in his fishing hole. He caught one, but then started sticking his hands deeper and deeper into the crevices of the coral. Suddenly, something lodged onto his arm. He guessed that it was a moray eel. He fought with it for a while and it let go. As he stood panting, he resolved never to dive in the hole again, “Some time later, I made an informed guess that it had been a large moray eel. Whatever it was, I never got back into the hole again.”(Taylor, p. 123)

1)When the storm was over Phillip found that Timothy was dead and dug him a proper grave and did his best in his blindness. He did this because he wanted Timothy to have a good grave because he was dead and how he had been like a father to Phillip. Phillip did not cry for Timothy because he was so sad he could not shed tears for Timothy, “I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears.(Taylor p. 112) Phillip cried when Stew Cat came because he realized it was only him and Stew Cat alone on the Cay and he knew that he would have to feed himself and Stew Cat without the help of Timothy.
2)Ten days after the storm Phillip decided to do something Timothy had told him not to do, fish langosta. He went over to the special hole where Timothy had caught the langosta and managed to catch a small one but got severely bitten by what he thought was a moray eel, “Sometime later, I made an informed geuss that it had been a moray eel.”(Taylor p. 123) As a result Phillip decided never to go back to that hole in the future.

1.When the storm ended Phillip wrapped his hand around Timothy’s and went to sleep, “I found his hard, horny hand again, wrapped mine around it, and lay down beside him.”(Taylor, p.112) I believe Phillip did not cry because he was at an emotion that is beyond shock or words that can be written. Yet when Stew cat appeared the full force of reality had hit him.

2. On the tenth day after the storm Phillip decide to try to catch langosta, a very dangerous task that Timothy had told him not to do. “Ten pebbles had gone into my time can when i decide to do something Timothy had told me never to do.” After Phillip was attacked by whatever bit him he decided it best if he didn’t go back in the hole.

When the storm finished Phillip buried Timothy because he died during the storm. Timothy cried when Stew cat came back and not when Timothy did because sometimes your beyond tears and this was one of those times, “I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears.” (Taylor, p. 112)

After ten days of the storm Phillip decided he was going to spear langosta. After getting a small one Phillip wanted more so he went back down but was confronted with a eel which tore him up pretty badly,“Whatever had my wrist had the strength of Timothy’s arms.” (Taylor, p. 123) In conclusion Phillip chose not to go back in there.

1) When the storm was over, Phillip untied himself from the rope and then began untying Timothy. Once unbound, Phillip sat on the hill next to Timothy and held his hand, for there was not much else he could do. A while later, Phillip recognized that Timothy was dead, but did not cry. However, when stew cat came back, Phillip started to bawl, “Then I cried for a long time, holding stew Cat tight.” (Taylor, p. 112) I think he started to cry because all of the trauma, being stranded on a cay and Timothy dying, may have caught up to him and caused him to cry.
2) After ten days, Phillip decided it was time to try and catch a langosta in the fishing hole. Phillip was able to catch one lobster, but on his last dive he became curious when he found a hole in the coral wall, “I dived again, and this time found what seemed to be an opening into a deep hole.” (Taylor, p. 123) That hole happened to be home to a moray eel, which bit Phillip’s intruding hand. Afterwards, Phillip decided that he would never get back in the hole again.

1. When the hurricane was over Phillip untied the rope then tried to help Timothy. “In my world of darkness, I had learned that holding a hand could be like medicine.” (Taylor p.111) Phillip did not cry when Timothy died because there are some events in which are so terrible that one is too sad to cry over. Stew Cat seemed to bring Phillip back to reality making him realize that he is on his own.
2. About ten days after Timothy’s death Phillip decided to go fish for some langosta. While in the fishing hole Phillip is stung by what he thinks to be a moray eel. “ I kicked and rose to the surface, the thing still on my wrist, its teeth sunk in deep. (Taylor p.123) After that Phillip decided to never go in the fishing hole again.

1. When the storm was over Phillip made a grave for Timothy, although he was mad that Timothy didn’t take him and Stew Cat with him to the afterlife. Phillip started crying when Stew Cat came but didn’t when Timothy died because Phillip was too sad. “I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears”(p.112 Taylor)
2. Ten days after the storm Phillip decided that he wanted something else to eat besides coconuts so he wanted to dive in to the fishing hole and catch some langosta. Timothy had warned him not to, but Phillip couldn’t resist not to. Phillip in the whole was bitten by an eel “Pain shooting up my entire arm, I lay panting on the edge of the pool and gingerly began to feel my wrist.”(p.123 Taylor)

1. After the storm was over, Phillip untied himself and Timothy from the palm tree. He then just held Timothy’s hand, knowing he couldn’t do anything to save his life, “I knew there was little I could do for him except to sit by him in the light rain, holding his hand. In my world of darkness, I had learned that holding a hand could belike medicine.” (Taylor, p. 111) After Timothy died, Phillip dug a grave and buried Timothy in it. I think Phillip cried when Stew Cat came back, and not when Timothy died because when Timothy died, he was too sad and overwhelmed to cry, “I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears.” (Taylor, p. 112) Philip did cry when Stew Cat came back because Timothy was like Phillip’s eyes, and now that he was gone and Stew Cat can’t talk, Phillip was in a whole new, deserted, lonely world.

2. Ten days after the storm, Phillip went down to his fishing hole to spear some langosta. Phillip speared one, but it was small. As he dived once more, feeling with his hand against the ocean floor, something swam over a bit him. The creature held on to Phillip’s wrist and kept sinking its teeth deeper, “Whatever had my wrist had the strength of Timothy’s arms.” (Taylor, p. 123) Phillip later guessed that it had been a large moray eel. Phillip then decided he would never go back in the hole again.

Ten days after the storm, Phillip decided to spear langosta even though Timothy told him never to do it. Phillip got one small langosta but then something that Phillip thought was amoray eel. "I made an informed guess that it had been a large moray eel." (Taylor, p.123) Because that large fish dug it's sharp teeth into his arm, Phillip decided to never go into the hole to fish for langosta again.

1. Phillip dug a grave for Timothy because he wanted to bury Timothy. He did not cry for Timothy because he was beyond tears at that point. He cried when Stew Cat came back because he remembered he was blind and alone on a forggoten cay. "Then I cried for a long time holding Stew Cat tight."(Taylor, p.112)

2. He decided to go get some langosta from that hole aand Phillip got a few pieces then stuck his hand in another hole and got bit by something.

1)When the storm was over Phillip sat with Timothy and held his hand because he did not know what else to do and holding his hand was the best thing he could think of. "I knew there was very little I could do for him except to sit by him in the light rain, holding his hand." (Taylor, p. 111) Phillip did not cry when Timothy died because he was to upset to cry. "I did not cry then. There are times when you are just beyond tears." (Taylor, p. 112) Phillip cried when Stew Cat came back because he was blind and alone on a cay other then Stew Cat. "Aside from him, I was blind and alone on a forgotten cay." (Taylor, p. 112)

2) After ten days, Phillip decided to dive for langosta. "I wanted scallops or a langosta to roast over the fire." (Taylor, p. 120) As a result, Phillip managed to get a langosta. "Panting, I shouted to Stew Cat, 'Lobster tonight!'" (Taylor, p. 122) But, Phillip did not think he had enough langosta for both of them. "I was happy with the lobster that was now on the reef, but it was quite small, barely a meal for Stew Cat and myself." (Taylor, p. 122-123) Phillip dived down again for more langosta and something grabbed onto his hand. "I ran my hand back and forth into that hole, and something grabbed it." (Taylor, p. 123) Phillip decided that whatever grabbed his hand was a moray eel. "Sometime later, I made an informed guess that it had been a large moray eel." (Taylor, p. 123)

1. When the storm finished Phillip held Tim's hand because he said it was like medicine. He didn't cry when Tim died because " I did not cry then. There are times when you are beyond tears." Cried when he was with Stew Cat because he had lost a person that came close to him, and he is blind on a forgotten cay.
2. 10 days later Phillip wanted food so he decided to catch a Langosta. He dove in to the dangerous hole to catch a Langosta, but in the end he only got a small one, but then an eel bit him. Phil decided that he would never go back to that hole ever again.
